Meet the Manager
“Since joining Lakeside Care Home in Reading in 2012 as a Care Assistant, B&M Care has supported and developed my career, resulting in a number of promotions, including my most recent appointment to Home Manager in December 2018. With a degree in Photography, and an NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care, my education has encouraged me to combine theory-based practice with my passion for creativity, which ultimately encourages both me, and my team, to deliver something truly unique within the home.
We are a warm and friendly home with a team dedicated to supporting our residents and families with a high standard of care, in an environment that feels homely, safe and stimulating.”
Magda West – Home Manager
Our Response
The CQC inspection identified areas for improvement in staff training records, mealtime experience, governance systems, storage of prescribed thickeners, and staffing arrangements. These were addressed promptly through strengthened training and appraisal processes, improved mealtime support, enhanced audits for compliance, clearer medication storage procedures, and staffing reviews.
The report also recognised positive care planning, choice and independence, and the caring, supportive nature of staff. Lakeside remains committed to continuous improvement, openness, and high-quality person-centred care.
