Enhanced Dementia Care

At B&M Care, we provide specialist support that is tailored to the unique needs of each individual resident. That’s why our enhanced dementia care differs from standard dementia care by accommodating the requirements of people living with dementia who need additional support on a daily basis.

Enhanced dementia care provides greater structure, more supervision as well as tailored interventions to support cognitive, emotional and physical wellbeing. Whilst our dedicated carers work in partnership with each individual and their personal preferences, they also work with families to ensure they are closely involved in the care journey as well.

Care Homes Designed For Dementia:

At B&M Care, we’ve created thoughtfully designed environments that go far beyond traditional care to ensure those living with advanced dementia have the extra support in place so they can live confidently and comfortably.

Optimum lighting and contrast. To support orientation, wayfinding and navigation. For example, outdoor pathways are designed to contrast with lawns, and light switches are given a contrasting plate behind them, to make them easier to locate.

Stimulation and points of interest. These include indoor murals, garden statues, places to visit within the grounds, and benches in corridors, where residents can sit and watch the world go by.

Carefully chosen colours. Colour can help to calm or stimulate, and can have an impact on the emotions and behaviour of people with dementia. We opt for calming colours that aid orientation around the home, with brighter colours to give a sense of energy and stimulation in activity areas.
