Residential care is a term used to describe the general care and support provided to an individual living with low care needs. Often referred to as ‘personal care’, residential care typically involves assistance with bathing or showering, dressing, eating meals, and promoting mobility.
Long-Term Residential Care at B&M Care
Long-term residential care is a dedicated service that supports an individual to live as independently and safely as possible on a permanent basis, and is suitable for those experiencing day-to-day challenges or who live with an ongoing health condition.
This type of care offers the same assurance and exemplary care standards as that of respite care, which is a short-stay solution for individuals seeking support following post-operative or hospital care, or whilst their regular caregiver takes a break.
This option gives an individual flexibility when it comes to the duration of their stay, which can be anything from two weeks to two months – or even on a recurring basis. Some families also use respite care as a way of introducing long-term care to a loved one.
Quality Assured Care from B&M Care
Beyond the initial enquiry, an individual’s journey with B&M Care starts with a personalised assessment. Typically carried out in the person’s home, both the family and the prospective resident will receive a service reflective of the care and uniqueness that B&M Care prides itself on.
Each assessment will help paint a picture of the individual’s specific care needs, but it will also enable us to learn more about them as a person: their likes and dislikes; their hobbies, interests and cultural beliefs; their family history; and most importantly, their loved ones. Once identified, we then create a digital care plan where this information is stored and added to daily, providing a highly-personalised service from day one.
Once an assessment has been carried out and a move-in date has been scheduled, the home will always welcome a family in to personalise their loved one’s room.
From furnishings and keepsakes, to photographs, decorations and sentimental items, the home’s management team provides support through every step of an individual’s transition – and beyond this, will communicate the ongoing reviews and evaluations of their loved one.

Why B&M Care?
B&M Care’s residential care is unique because it is underpinned by the group’s Rose Model of Dementia Care – an approach that advocates best practice with an aim of making every moment count for an individual living in one of our homes. Endorsing the notions of independence and autonomy, our model of care exerts emphasis on being ‘person-centred’ – an approach that looks at the ‘whole person’ rather than, for example, their care needs.
Embedded through staff training, living environments, and of course, day-to-day care practice, the Rose Model of Dementia Care is what defines B&M Care and its benchmark standards in providing a safe and specialist service. In-line with research and our own findings, the model is continually updated to reflect changes within the industry and the needs of those we care for.
