  • "We wanted to touch base and thank every single member of staff who has helped us over the last three years. St Andrews has been our lifeline and I cannot shout enough about how much you all helped us as a family. We will be forever grateful."

  • "Since launching Skype within the home, we are enjoying communicating with Mum from overseas. There is a huge improvement in Mum's speech and it is so lovely to see her smile and hear her laugh. The musical activities sound brilliant and she is clearly enjoying this. It really makes a difference to all our lives being able to see and hear each other. You do a brilliant job and we want you to know all your hard work has been appreciated by all of us."

    Daughter of Resident

  • "I would like to say a big thank you for all the care and kindness shown. As far as my husband was concerned, he was 'at home', and I cannot thank you enough for that."

    Wife of Resident

  • "Staff worked very hard to give Mum special moments of fun and laughter. Mum's Keyworker formed a really special bond with her. It is difficult to describe but I guess he just has the X-Factor! I wish we could steal him to be Mum's special friend."

Our Staff

St Andrews Care Home in Welwyn Garden City has a select team of experienced care staff who have each undertaken bespoke training to meet the individual needs of the home's residents. The home provides appropriate ratios of staff both day and night, alongside a day-to-day care ethos that delivers highly-personalised care where dignity, freedom and privacy are consistently upheld. With an industry-envied training programme and ongoing support & development, B&M Care's guiding principles are what define our staff within the dementia care sector.

Barbara first joined B&M Care in 2010 as Deputy Manager in one of the group's other care homes, before taking a six-year sabbatical to move to Brazil where she taught English. She returned to B&M Care in August 2020 as Home Manager of St Andrews; an opportunity that she has since flourished in, and where she has instilled an ethos in which the individual is at the heart of everything. In addition to her practical knowledge and PTTLS training, she has successfully completed an NVQ Level 4, a university qualification in Management, and a diploma in dementia care.
