  • "Thank you for your continued care and hard work that you do for the residents of Lakeside. We appreciate how happy Muriel is and that is thanks to you all. Hopefully these strange times will improve, but until then - stay safe!"

    Family of Resident

  • "We want to express our appreciation for all that you did for Mum during her time with you. It has been a great comfort to know that she was safe and well cared for, particularly during these difficult times. Thank you so much for all your care and kindness."

    Daughter of Resident

  • "We want to thank you so much for loving our Mum (our Queen!) like we did. You have all been truly amazing and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are so gutted that the dreadful COVID-19 has taken her from us in this way, but we thank you for being there."

    Family of Resident

  • "It is in times of crisis, good leaders emerge! Strong mind, strong heart! Keep going Magda and Lakeside."

    Family of Resident

  • "Thank you very much for allowing me to undertake my work experience at Lakeside. I would especially like to thank all the staff who helped and supported me during my placement. I especially enjoyed all the activities such as singing, films, puzzle games, art and crafts, and card-making. I think these kinds of activities really help the home's residents feel happy and healthy."

  • "[Resident] is settling in remarkably well at Lakeside. She has a lovely room overlooking allotments, and has been busy playing darts, doing small exercises, and borrowing books from the home’s mobile library service. What was evident was that Lakeside makes a significant effort to keep residents engaged, including daily one-to-one discussions. The management team is very focussed and run the home extremely well. All in all, very successful so far and I would recommend it."

  • "My Mother came to Lakeside in 2015 following a period of respite care in another home. She was suffering with dementia and had begun to wander away from home. We were immediately struck by how relaxed she seemed following what we anticipated would be an uprooting and unsettling move. Her bedroom was nicely decorated and furnished and she quickly settled into her new surroundings. It was the quality of staff that also stood out. Most importantly staff respected the residents and treated them with utmost dignity. There was huge affection shown to my mother and great efforts made to meet her needs. The care was superb at the end of life."

    Family of Resident

  • "This is a special thank you to all the staff at Lakeside for the care and kindness given to me during my stay with you."

    Respite Resident

  • "I [would like] to thank you for the excellent care received by my late Mother. The staff have always been amazing. Their tender, constant and professional care was appreciated by all of us. They are a credit to both Lakeside and B&M Care."

Our Staff

Lakeside has a select team of experienced care staff who have each undertaken bespoke training to meet the individual needs of the home's residents. The home provides appropriate ratios of staff both day and night, alongside a day-to-day care ethos that delivers highly-personalised care where dignity, freedom and privacy are consistently upheld. With an industry-envied training programme and ongoing support & development, B&M Care's guiding principles are what define our staff within the dementia care sector.
“Since joining Lakeside in 2012 as a Care Assistant, B&M Care has supported and developed me to enjoy a career that has cultivated a number of promotions, including my most recent appointment as Home Manager in December 2018. With a degree in photography and an NVQ Level 5 in Health & Social Care, my education has encouraged me to combine theory-based practice with my passion for creativity to ultimately encourage my team and I to deliver something unique within the home.”
Magda Burdzy - Home Manager
“I started my career at B&M Care in 1996 as a Care Assistant at St Lukes. Following several promotions, I transferred to Lakeside in 2015 as Assistant Manager, and have since been promoted to Deputy Manager. In addition to taking responsibility for fully inducting new members of staff, I have achieved an NVQ Level 3 & 4 in health & Social Care, as well as graduating as the home’s Moving and Handling trainer.”
Liz Fox - Deputy Manager
“I started my career within the sector working in an environment that provided specialist nursing and dementia care; an experience that was invaluable. But after recognising that I wanted to work within a residential setting, I applied for a Care Assistant position at St Catharines in 2009. Since this date, I have achieved a number of successes, including an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management, as well as accepting the opportunity to step up within the home as an Assistant Manager. 2020 saw me move to Lakeside in Reading”
Michelle Banana - Assistant Manager
“I started my career at Lakeside in January 2015 as a Care Assistant and since joining the home, I have completed my NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care, and am currently studying towards my Level 3. From my original role as a Care Assistant, I have since 'moved through the ranks' to my most recent appointment as Assistant Manager in December 2019.”
