  • "We bless the day that Mum arrived on your doorstep - it was a giant leap of faith. Your reputation preceded you, but nevertheless, entrusting the care of a most precious loved one to others is no easy feat. Our faith was rewarded, and then some. The love, compassion and care given to Mum, both in her living and in her final days, has been simply exemplary. You were her day-to-day family, thus making you ours too. You were her friends, thus making you our friends too. We will never forget and can never repay you for what you have done for our Mum."

    Family of Resident

  • "I just wanted to say how greatly I appreciate just how difficult this pandemic has been for you all. Sure, it is tough on the residents, and heartbreaking for families, but I know just how much you passionately care for your residents and that you have done everything in your power to keep them safe and happy. Their safety will always be paramount, and because I love my mum more than anyone else, I cannot thank you enough for your endeavours. You are a simply amazing team."

    Daughter of Resident

  • "I was looking for respite care for my father-in-law, and although the home at the time was full, they understood my sense of urgency and did everything possible to help, including providing the names of other homes that might be suitable. True to their word, the home came back to me with the offer of another home, however, by that time, my father-in-law had already been placed elsewhere. What impressed me was that both the Administrator and the Home Manager contacted me later to enquire after my father-in-law, which made me feel they had gone well beyond the call of duty."

    Enquirer

  • "I have been so grateful to the care staff and management of Ashlyns Care Home because of their impeccable hard work in keeping Covid-19 out of the home. My mother especially, who has dementia, has been looked after, cared for and loved without measure. Not once through this difficult time have I ever worried about how she is because I knew and know she's in safe hands. The home gave us full updates every week so we were kept informed. When I was finally allowed to see my Mum she looked so well, tidy and clean. She was happy and smiling. Thank you Ashlyns - you rock!"

    Daughter of Resident

  • "Ashlyns has provided exceptional care for my Mum. They have had a proactive response to the pandemic which has kept the residents safe and well. They are now providing options to visit and this has successfully worked. It was so nice seeing Mum after so long."

    Daughter of Resident

  • "Just wanted to say how lovely it was seeing my husband yesterday. He looks so well! Thank you so much for enabling the visit, and as I have said before, I have nothing but praise for all your fantastic team who have kept going (so positively!) throughout this difficult time."

    Wife of Resident

  • "Firstly, can I say a huge thank you to all your staff for everything you're doing for Mum and the other residents during this very difficult time. Mum continues to sound very happy and contented when we speak to her which is a huge relief."

    Daughter of Resident

  • "We would like to express our deepest thanks to you for your intervention and assistance in getting Mum out of a hostile hospital ward and back to her lovely home at Ashlyns. Your willingness to listen and act on any areas of concern has always been important to us - as well as the outstanding levels of care that Mum receives. We simply cannot thank you enough."

    Daughter of Resident

  • "It has been over three months since Dad died, and we now feel we are able to thank the staff at Ashlyns for their care during his two happy years there. It is no exaggeration to say that Dad's life blossomed when he moved to Ashlyns. We could tell during his initial assessment that Dad had found a new home; one where he would be part of a community, with people who cared about his wellbeing."

    Family of Resident

  • "We just wanted to thank you for a lovely day out on Sunday. The grounds for the [Annual Ashlyns Classic Car] show couldn’t be better - and so many cars this year! You all worked so hard to make it the success that it was."

    Visitor

  • "I am writing to you to express my family's thanks to [Home Manager] Diane and her team at Ashlyns for the amazing care they gave our Mother for many years. The staff are wonderful people who clearly care for the residents and I have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone."

    Family of Resident

  • "We have enjoyed our stay at Ashlyns and very much appreciate the friendliness, the help and the level of care shown to us by all members of staff."

Our Staff

Ashlyns Care Home has a select team of experienced care staff who have each undertaken bespoke training to meet the individual needs of the home's residents. The home provides appropriate ratios of staff both day and night, alongside a day-to-day care ethos that delivers highly-personalised care where dignity, freedom and privacy are consistently upheld. With an industry-envied training programme and ongoing support & development, B&M Care's guiding principles are what define our staff within the dementia care sector.
“Since joining B&M Care in 1998 and Ashlyns in 2000, I have strived to develop myself, my staff and my home in line with the company’s person-centred philosophy to deliver a standard of care that is highly regarded both in and around Berkhamsted. Over the years, B&M Care has encouraged me to undertake relevant training and education to further support my role as Home Manager, which includes: the ‘Leadership Matters in Person-centred Dementia Care’ programme [accredited by Alzheimer’s Society and Surrey University] and the Registered Managers Award (RMA)."
