About Ashlyns

Ashlyns Care Home is ideally situated in thirteen acres of parkland grounds on the historic Ashlyns Hall Estate in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. The home boasts an award-winning single storey, purpose-built design, complimented by a courtyard-inspired outdoor living space.  

Ashlyns offers the following types of care for an older person: 24-hour long-term residential & specialist dementia care, as well as respite & convalescence care.

  • "I have been so grateful to the care staff and management of Ashlyns Care Home because of their impeccable hard work in keeping COVID-19 out of the home. My mother especially, who has dementia, has been looked after, cared for and loved without measure. Not once through this difficult time have I ever worried about how she is because I knew and know she's in safe hands. The home gave us full updates every week so we were kept informed. When I was finally allowed to see my Mum she looked so well, tidy and clean. She was happy and smiling. Thank you Ashlyns - you rock!"

Our Staff

Ashlyns has a select team of experienced care staff who have each undertaken bespoke training to meet the individual needs of the home's residents. The home provides appropriate ratios of staff both day and night, alongside a day-to-day care ethos that delivers highly-personalised care where dignity, freedom and privacy are consistently upheld. With an industry-envied training programme and ongoing support & development, B&M Care's guiding principles are what define our staff within the dementia care sector.
“Since joining B&M Care in 1998 and Ashlyns in 2000, I have strived to develop myself, my staff and my home in line with the company’s person-centred philosophy to deliver a standard of care that is highly regarded both in and around Berkhamsted. Over the years, B&M Care has encouraged me to undertake relevant training and education to further support my role as Home Manager, which includes: the ‘Leadership Matters in Person-centred Dementia Care’ programme [accredited by Alzheimer’s Society and Surrey University] and the Registered Managers Award (RMA). In March 2020, I received the opportunity to become a dual-registered manager to continue overseeing Ashlyns, in addition to St Lauras in Kings Langley.”

"I joined Ashlyns in 2005 as a Care Assistant, before applying for a Senior Day Care Assistant in 2006. With the support of Diane and others within the home, I progressed to Assistant Manager, and finally to Deputy Manager in 2015. Since this appointment I have completed an NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Health & Social Care, an NVQ in Team Leading, and an ASET Level 2 in Dementia Care, as well as B&M Care’s Management Development Pathway."
