Inspired by a pillar of the Great British Summer Time – that’s right, the one that’s rallied about in London’s SW19 - Wednesday 1st July saw Tara’s Retreat in Sandridge recreate the home’s favourite Wimbledon Championship moments to raise valuable funds for Pinner-based community tennis club, Get Set 4 Tennis.

The ticketed event saw staff and residents go head-to-head as part of a delightfully tense tournament, concluded with a ‘tea on the lawn’ themed dining experience, which included finger sandwiches, scones, strawberries and cream, and Pimms.

“The event was absolutely superb – and we had even more fun knowing it was for a good cause,” said Tara’s Retreat Engagement Lead, Alex Frame.

She continued: “Here at Tara’s Retreat, we absolutely love Wimbledon, so to use this as a theme to raise money was rewarding to everyone involved.”

Based at Haydon School, Get Set 4 Tennis is a not-for-profit community programme that is highly-regarded for its inclusive approach to sport and recreation, as well as its dedicated SEN training.

Winner of the 'Middlesex Disability Programme of the Year Award 2019', the club has enrolled over 350 children and adults who enjoy a year-long programme of tournaments, camps, training, and an annual awards ceremony that rewards excellence and talent across its intergenerational members.
