Monday 4th January will see B&M Care attend a planning meeting chaired by the St Albans Planning (DC) Committee North to seek approval to build a stand-alone pre-admission suite at St Matthews Care Home in Redbourn.

Developed in-line with B&M Care’s Covid Response and Infection Control policies, the proposed ‘Rainbow Suite’ will be situated at the rear of the Chequer Lane care home to welcome new residents for the first 14 days of their long-term or short-stay care, before moving into one of the home’s four living environments.

The suite will contain four bedrooms for up to four admissions to isolate together – each of which include a kitchenette and en-suite shower room. Individuals will also benefit from a shared communal living and dining space, as well as a dedicated laundry.

“The care sector has faced many challenges in 2020 with the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, and one of the most significant has been regarding admissions into our homes,” said Lee Wood, B&M Care’s Development & Facilities Director.

He continued: “In order to protect our existing residents and staff, individuals being admitted into any B&M Care Home need to isolate for 14 days, therefore the proposal of this Rainbow Suite is a valuable and unique resource that overcomes these challenges.”

B&M Care attended the Redbourn Parish Council meeting on 27th October 2020 via Zoom to present these proposals and received full support.
