Engagement & Wellbeing
The need for an individual to engage within meaningful occupation is innate and an approach instilled across the group. B&M Care recognises that for a person to lead a fulfilling lifestyle, they need to participate in a programme of engagement that is relevant to them, as well as their life roles, culture, and social interests.
In line with the group’s Rose Model of Dementia Care, and as a result of fostering a vision that looks at the ‘whole person’, B&M Care offers individuals the opportunity to participate in an enriching lifestyle programme that focuses on engagement that positively impacts a person’s health & wellbeing.
Typical engagement includes: art and craft initiatives; music therapy workshops; pet therapy classes; and reminiscence projects – all of which are carried out in both group and one-to-one settings.
In addition to the above, each B&M Care Home facilitates a relationship with its respective community through a number of visitation programmes, which include: garden centres, museums, football clubs, and cafes and restaurants. And as part of B&M Care’s commitment to stimulating “non-familial interactions” on an intergenerational spectrum, many homes have relationships with local schools and nurseries.
