St Matthews is situated close to the common in the small rural village of Redbourn in Hertfordshire. Formerly part of the site where the Brook Bond tea factory was situated, St Matthews is a purpose built care home that has been tastefully furnished and equipped to a superior standard. The home has been designed over three levels to accommodate the varying needs of the residents, including a specialist dementia environment for individuals who are experiencing living with a dementia. St Matthews offers long term residential care and short stay respite breaks for older people.
Accommodation is provided in single en suite rooms, the majority of which also have shower facilities. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms to create a sense of home from home, familiarity and belonging. St Matthews offers a choice of lounges and dining throughout the home. The extensive sunny gardens and courtyards at St Matthews offer a safe environment, with easy access pathways a log cabin and greenhouse for outdoor activities.
St Matthews has a select team of experienced staff, who have relevant and appropriate training to meet the needs of the residents. The emphasis of our care delivery is on individually planned person centred care, which builds upon a person's strengths and constantly seeks to improve their quality of life. Freedom and privacy are respectfully maintained, yet help is always on hand.
Life at St Matthews is very much home from home and an active lifestyle is encouraged, with friends and relatives always welcome. The activities organiser arranges a varied social calendar of activities and entertainment in groups and on a one to one basis. We ensure that each of our residents receive meaningful occupation tailored to who they are. The home has transport available for trips into the community and there is a weekly activities programme with monthly entertainment.
