Purpose built in 1993, St Josephs is found in the idyllic country town of Tring in Hertfordshire, providing care for those needs that arise from both old age and dementia.
An already established care home, St Josephs was one of the original care homes to identify the need for specialised, specific environments, built to cater for the needs of residents experiencing a dementia. It was with this in mind that the purpose built, single storey, courtyard style area was created.
The specialist dementia environment at St Josephs has been awarded dementia accreditation from Hertfordshire County Council for the last three years.
There is a choice of single or companion en suite bedrooms, all of which may be personalised.
St Josephs offers a choice of lounges and dining areas, a private family lounge/reading room and a garden conservatory. The beautifully landscaped, private gardens at St Josephs offer a safe environment, with easy access pathways for outdoor activities.
St Josephs offers long term residential care and short stay respite breaks for older people. The home specialises in the care of older people with dementia related needs and benefits from a safe and secure dementia environment.
St Josephs has a select team of experienced staff, who have relevant and appropriate training to meet the needs of the residents. The emphasis of our care delivery is on individually planned person centred care, which builds upon a person's strengths and constantly seeks to improve their quality of life. Freedom and privacy are respectfully maintained, yet help is always on hand.
Life at St Josephs is very much home from home and an active lifestyle is encouraged, with friends and relatives always welcome. The activities organiser arranges a varied social calendar of activities and entertainment in groups and on a one to one basis. We ensure that each of our residents receive meaningful occupation tailored to who they are. The home has transport available for trips into the community and there is a weekly activities programme with monthly entertainment.
What Others Say
To the wonderful staff at St Josephs..... We have been astonished by your great kindness in sitting with Florence so much and talking to her, playing her favourite music for her and so thoughtfully keeping the family informed as to how she was doing. We cannot thank you enough. You have made St Joseph's a really homely place for Florence in her last years and not only cared for her most tenderly, but brought laughter into her life as well, which is so important. She told us often how fond she was of her carers, and we were not surprised to hear it. Thank you, all of you, so much ... Niece of a Resident
