We were invited to the Gala Garden Party Award Evening at St Andrews had won a Highly Commended award in the Breath of Fresh Air Competition run by The National Association of Providers of Activities for Older People (NAPA). Helen Eames (activitiy co-ordinator), Jill Amos (Senior Carer), Anne Dack (Resident) and Lynne Simons (Deputy Manager) got on their glad rags and went in style on The Herts Action for Disability Bus to The State Apartments, Royal Chelsea Hospital, London. We were lucky enough to meet and make friend with two very interesting and lovel Chelsea Pensioners, Dennis and Sandy.
The awards was co-hosted with GMTVs Fiona Philips who has personla experience of dementia in her own family. She was kind, genuine and generous with ehr time and comments about the achievements of all carers and providers of care and activities. Helen proudly collected her award for St Andrews from Sally Knocker and Sylvie Silvers, who are two inspirational and key ladies in NAPA. Sylvie is not only director but has recently won the Inspirational Woman of the Year Award.
