The Ashlyns Carers - A Poem.
My week rest at Ashlyns Home is now in the past
But my memory of its carers will surely every last
Their cheerful words and ready smile
all helpted to make my stay worthwhile.
No request was too much trouble
Though often working at the double
Their dedication was always on view
Whatever task they had to do.
And for those who needed special care
They always seemed to have time to spare
It may sometime appear to be wrong and unfair
That so many old should need such care.
But whilst at the home it became quite clear
That what a terrible world this would surely be
If all was right and all was fair.
It would be full of greed, no one would care
Thought when bearing a cross we may often doubt
... S G Dollimoe, respite care.
